Student Discipline & Conduct Policy

Introduction

At Samar Global High School, we are committed to fostering a safe, disciplined, and engaging environment where every student can learn, grow, and thrive. This policy outlines behavioral expectations and the disciplinary framework that supports a respectful and responsible school culture.

Scope

This policy applies to all students from Grades Nursery to XII, and is enforceable:

  • On school grounds
  • In school buses, at bus stops, and during school transport
  • At all school-sponsored events, trips, athletic meets, and extracurricular activities
  • During any off-campus events authorized or supervised by school staff

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to:

  •  Define and communicate expected student conduct
  • Guide staff, students, and parents in upholding school discipline
  • Support the implementation of the Samarites’ Code of Conduct  
  • Ensure a consistent, fair, and transparent approach to discipline

Key Expectations for Students

General Conduct:
  • Follow all rules outlined in the School Diary. Parents/guardians are expected to monitor and sign it regularly.
  • Be punctual; latecomers will not be allowed to enter the school premises.
  • Maintain a minimum of 75% attendance for eligibility for promotion.
  • Half-day leave is permitted only in cases of illness or with permission from the Head of Wing.
Uniform & Presentation:
  • Wear the complete school uniform during school hours, walk-ins, Open Days, and special classes.
  • Students on official duty must be in full uniform whether inside or outside school.
  • Ornaments and jewelry are not permitted
Conduct During School Activities:
  • Appear for all tests and examinations as scheduled. No retests will be conducted.
  • Seek prior approval for participation in external exams or competitions. 
  • Practice attendance is mandatory for all students part of a school team. 
  • Do not use the school’s name, acronym, logo, or any branding on social media or public platforms without official permission.
Prohibited Items & Actions:
  • No mobile phones, iPads, cameras, or other electronic gadgets allowed in school. 
  • Refrain from carrying dangerous items, crackers, or any abusive substances. 
  • Students are responsible for their belongings. The school is not liable for lost items.
Interpersonal Conduct:
  • Show respect towards teachers, staff, and peers at all times. 
  • Restricted areas such as the labs, pool, play station, and auditorium are off-limits unless supervised.
Examinations & Academics:
  • Do not resort to unfair means during tests or exams.
  • Repeated negligence in academic responsibilities may lead to disciplinary action.

Anti-Bullying Pledge

All students are required to sign and uphold the school’s Anti-Bullying Pledge, which emphasizes respect, kindness, and zero tolerance for:

  • Verbal or physical abuse 
  • Social exclusion
  •  Cyberbullying
  •  Any form of intimidation

Zero Tolerance Policy

The following actions are strictly prohibited and will lead to immediate and serious disciplinary consequences:

  • Use of abusive language or gestures
  • Bullying, fighting, or physical aggression
  • Possession of dangerous or illegal items 
  • Damage to school property 
  • Use of drugs, intoxicants, or gambling 
  • Leaving school premises without permission 
  • Public displays of affection
  • Irresponsible use of social media
  • Habitual tardiness or missing academic materials 
  • Cheating, plagiarism, or any form of malpractice

Disciplinary Actions

Violation of school rules may result in:

  • Verbal or written warnings
  • Parent-teacher meetings
  • Reformation tasks or counseling
  • Suspension from classes or activities
  • In extreme cases, expulsion
