POCSO POLICY

Child Protection & Safety Policy

Introduction

At Samar Global High School, the safety, well-being, and dignity of every child are paramount. In line with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, the school has adopted a comprehensive Child Protection Policy to ensure a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment for all its students.

Child protection is not only a statutory obligation—it is a core institutional value. This policy guides our approach to safeguarding children from physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect. It applies across all aspects of school life—from administration and curriculum implementation to staff recruitment, professional conduct, and parental engagement.

Scope

This policy applies to all individuals who engage with the school, whether directly or indirectly, including:

  • School staff (teaching and non-teaching)
  • Contractual and support staff
  • Visitors and external professionals
  • Volunteers, interns, and student teachers
  • Parents, guardians, and school committee members

The policy covers the following areas of child safety and protection:

  • Creation of a child-sensitive and child-safe school environment
  • Prevention of all forms of abuse, including corporal punishment and sexual misconduct
  • Clear reporting and redressal mechanisms for child safety concerns
  • Safe recruitment and ongoing training of school personnel
  • Disciplinary action for policy violations
  • Continuous monitoring, review, and improvement of child safety practices

Objectives

The key objectives of the Child Protection Policy are:

  • To promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school climate that supports learning and development
  • To ensure full compliance with the POCSO Act, 2012 and related child safety regulations
  • To increase awareness and understanding of child protection responsibilities among all stakeholders
  • To define clear roles and reporting mechanisms in cases of concern or abuse
  • To implement a robust structure for prevention, redressal, monitoring, and accountability

Child Protection Committee (CPC)

To support and enforce this policy, Samar Global High School has constituted a Child Protection Committee (CPC) in accordance with guidelines issued by the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Composition of CPC:

  • Chairperson: Head of Institution – Principal
  • Member, Advisory Board
  • Child Protection Officer (CPO)
  • Two Faculty Representatives
  • One Parent Representative
  • Administrative Officer

Note: The CPC ensures equal gender representation and age-appropriate student involvement.
