A school visit is the best chance you get to see where your child will spend the next several years. Brochures and websites all sound alike, but a 45-minute walk around the campus, with the right questions in hand, tells you far more. Here are 10 questions every parent should ask on a school visit, what a good answer sounds like, and what to look for while you walk around.

1. How many children are in each class, and how many teachers?

Class size shapes how much attention your child gets. For Nursery to UKG, also ask whether there is a helper or assistant teacher in the room. At Samar Global High School the teacher to student ratio is 1:20.

2. How do young children learn here?

For the early years, look for learning through play, stories, music, movement and hands-on activity, as NEP 2020 recommends. Ask to see a classroom and the materials children use every day, not just the display boards.

3. Who are the teachers, and how are they trained?

Ask about qualifications, experience and how often teachers are trained. If you can, spend a minute watching a teacher with the children. Warmth and patience are easy to spot.

4. How is my child kept safe?

Check the gate and visitor entry, CCTV, who can pick a child up, and what happens if a child falls ill. Ask whether there is an infirmary and a trained person on duty.

5. What does a normal school day look like?

Ask for the timetable for your child’s class: arrival, learning time, play, meals, rest and dispersal. A balanced day matters more for a four-year-old than a long list of subjects.

6. What happens beyond the classroom?

Sports, art, music, dance, clubs and projects build confidence and curiosity. Ask which activities are part of the regular timetable and which are optional. At Samar Global, children use learning studios such as the art room, pottery studio and performing arts spaces, along with sports facilities like the archery range and play areas built for little learners.

7. How will you tell me how my child is doing?

Ask how often parents meet teachers, how progress is shared (report cards, portfolios, app updates) and who to call with a concern. Regular, two-way communication is a strong sign of a good school.

8. Is there a bus to my area, and how is it supervised?

Ask whether a route covers your area, the pickup time, and who travels on the bus with the children. Samar Global’s buses cover areas within about 15 km of the campus on Pakhowal Road, with GPS tracking and a trained driver and conductor on every bus. See the Transport page for details.

9. What are the total fees, and what do they include?

Ask for the full fee structure in writing: tuition, one-time charges, transport, books, uniform and activities. A clear answer now avoids surprises later. Our Fee Structure page lists the details.

10. What is the admission process and timeline?

Ask about age criteria, the interaction or test, documents and important dates, and how many seats are left in your child’s class. You can read ours on the Admissions page and the Admissions FAQs.

What to look for while you walk around

  • Are the classrooms bright, clean and set up at a child’s height?
  • Do children look busy and happy?
  • Are the toilets clean and suitable for small children?
  • Is there open space to play, and is it safe?
  • Do staff greet you and answer questions openly?
